This week's KnitBits, due out on Friday, is the second in a series of themed entries called the Recession Collection. Last week's issue was a collection of 50 projects you can knit for under 50 dollars--a LOT less than 50 dollars in most cases. Not a subscriber? Ravelers’ NGV3 sweaters
I was bopping about Ravelry last night, wondering how many knitters were using Berroco yarn to knit patterns from my fall booklet. We hesitate to harp on it, but, after all, selling yarn is what my job is all about. I am very happy to report that I found some truly outstanding work. Y'all make me proud… Continue reading Ravelers’ NGV3 sweaters
espy excess
One story in norah gaughan volume 4 is all about excess fabric That's all I can say for now.
Tricksy…
This week's KnitBits patterns were inspired by the Icelandic tradition of the 13 Yule Lads, mischievous tricksters who wreak havoc around the holidays. While knitting the first of two Kertasnikir Boot Toppers, I didn't pay attention to the issue of yarn dominance. I trusted that blocking would work its usual magic and that the Geode colorwork would be… Continue reading Tricksy…
the return of wedgette
For those of you working on wedgette, I have decided to present the bodice numbers in a diagrammatic way, well, like a worksheet, before I write them out. BODICE: With RS facing, pick up 172(196-220-244-264-288-312)sts along top edge of “skirt”. First row – K 43(49-55-61-66-72-78)sts, place marker, k 86(98-110-122-132-144-156)sts, place marker, k remaining 43(49-55-61-66-72-78)sts Knit 4 more… Continue reading the return of wedgette
a tease from NGV4
I feel a bit like I'm emerging from captivity, although not an unpleasant captivity, just an intense one. I spend the last month designing the pieces for the 4th Berroco volume with my name on it. Let's refer to the upcoming book as NGV4 , eliminating the need to type my own name over and… Continue reading a tease from NGV4
Preparation Time
A while back, a curious reader left this comment: I am loving this peek into your design process! And at the same time as I look at your sheets feeling ever do disorganized! As I also watched your latest video slideshow for booklet 279 (keep doing these slide shows they are great) one question kept… Continue reading Preparation Time
wedgette
A few weeks ago the "fans of norah gaughan" group on Ravelry reached 2000 members, which I declared cause for celebration. I asked the members for celebratory suggestions. Someone suggested a KAL and someone else requested a new pattern just for the group. So, I decided to make a new pattern for the occasion and the knit… Continue reading wedgette
Welcome Cirilia!
Yippee, yahoo... the search for an assistant designer is over! I am so very pleased to announce that Cirilia Rose is now working with us in the Berroco design studio. Cirilia jumped right in, multitasking from the start. During her first two days we have had her editing Knitbits, planning future issues, fully participating in design… Continue reading Welcome Cirilia!
florentine memory
What started out as an attempt to remember a sweater in a store window ended up a multilayered photo collage of the photgrapher (me), cars driving by, ghostly tourists and, underneath it all, the afore mentioned sweater. I'm liking it as "ahht". All I did was point and click.
