Kate Atherly is a brilliant knitting engineer—she has made a career of understanding the finer points of perfecting fit with the highest level of technical precision. Kate is a excellent designer, too, something that does not necessarily go hand in hand with her level of technical knowledge. When she mentioned to me she had an idea to create a motorcycle jacket using Álafosslopi and Berroco Ultra® Alpaca I knew it was going to be good… But it’s better then good, it’s AMAZING!
The Wild One is a jacket knitting pattern for the iconic Motorcylce Jacket with meticulous attention to details. All the hardware, the fit, the seams in just the right places so that it hangs just so…
Kate designed this piece for Álafosslopi by Ístex, with a lined collar that uses Berroco Ultra Alpaca for added warmth and softness without adding additional bulk. Alafoss is a bulky-weight yarn that knits up double quick but is surprisingly light weight—an improvement on the original inspiration! Even more surprising, due to the dual coat nature of Icelandic wool, this is weatherproof as well. This jacket will keep you warm and stylish!
The pattern is sized for an XS through to a 3X. It is available exclusively though Kate Atherley’s Ravelry shop. Check out more of her work here and if you’re a sock knitter, you’ll want to look for her seminal work of the subject Custom Socks.
