Amy’s Thread: Knitters Resolutions

Do you make New Years Resolutions? Do you keep them?

I’m not really one to make a lot of resolutions for January 1,  but I’d really like to commit 2016 to knitting more of the things I want to wear instead of always only knitting the things I want to design. I have a short list of pieces I wish I had in my wardrobe right now:

  1. Damariscotta– from #364 Berroco Colora. I have wanted to make this sweater for myself since I first designed it. Colora is lovely yarn to work with but not what I’m looking for now; with the recommended gauge of 22 sts x 28 rows = 4″ Berroco Fiora is a perfect substitute. I’ll start by swatching with Belmont, a perfect slate blue, one new shades for Spring ’16 that should be popping up in your LYS now.
  2. Chartreuse by Thea Colman aka Baby Cocktails. I got to try on Thea’s original sample shown in the picture and I am in love. This piece has been in my queue for over a year but I haven’t had time. I have still to decide what yarn to knit it with, I’m going to swatch with Ultra Alpaca in the shade Lobster Mix and see how that looks, I might have to go with a lighter shade.
  3. Pine– from #361 Berroco Briza designed by Emily Nora O’Neil. All fall I’ve been dreaming of a version of this sweater in Berroco Artisan in the shade Gulf of Maine

This is a lot of knitting – I know won’t get to them all. I’ll be lucky if I finish one, but I’ll start by knitting swatches and take it from there.

Do you have any knitting themed New Year’s resolutions? We’d love for you to share your knitting goals and aspirations for 2016 in the comments below.
