For this week’s how-to video, I’m showing you a new way to knit with beads. I was motivated to learn this technique when I was putting together next week’s KnitBits. It features a soon-to-be-released free pattern in Cirrus that I’ve been eyeing in the design office for months now! I can’t wait for all of you to see it, too.
Since I know you’ll be eager to cast on, I’m sharing my tutorial ahead of time. This technique uses a strand of fine yarn, wire or plain floss to literally thread the bead onto your desired stitch. It is really very simple. Ready to see how it’s done? Take a look at the video below:
Not sure if this is the method for you? We have another video that shows you how to add beads that are pre-strung onto your yarn. Check it out:
You can add beads to any knitting project to give it a little bit of holiday sparkle.
Happy Making!

If you have followed my blog for any great length of time, you know that I love crocheting with beads, even though I haven’t done it in quite awhile. I have yet to venture in to knitting with beads, but this is some great info! Video tutorials makes this post the total package. 🙂 Enjoy!!!
What kind of beads did you use?
Thanks for asking! They are 4 mm glass beads with large holes.
