Amy’s Thread: What to Knit On the Road

The Berroco Fall ’14 collection is available in stores but I am in full summer mode – so what to knit now?

Cosma, is my current favorite. This lovely new sport weight wool/alpaca/silk blend is made for on the go knitting – the shade card is an inspiring range of fresh picked florals and classic neutrals and the pattern booklet, #348 Cosma, is filled with portable projects that fit easily into a beach bag.

Down the road I see myself knitting sweet cardies and lacey pullovers with this yarn, but right now it’s time for simpler, smaller things. Scarves and shawls make great traveling projects and I love knitting hats for portable knitting – especially when the weather is balmy.

The projects pictured are (from the top) LaodiTo-Ji and Xumi

The knitted gauge is a versatile 24 sts & 32 rows = 4″ (10cm) on a US 4 needle or 5.5 stitches/inch on a US 5. Not too heavy and not too fine, Cosma is just right for summer knitting.

Whats on your needles this summer?
