Looking for knits that’ll knock your socks off? Cathy Carron‘s latest book, Happy Feet, has more than 40 patterns – some with multiple variations – that will satisfy sock knitters of every skill.

From simple slippers to zippered leg warmers to socks with beads, bobbles and buttoned pockets, Carron has covered this knitting niche from knee to toe. Her designs are fresh, fun and distinctly creative. Of course, we’re toe-tally excited (bad pun…I know) that three of her projects feature Berroco yarn!

  10. I love knitting in the round, so socks are a great project. Socks are also a portable knitting project (I knit in the car….not while driving!), plus a nice way to use up bits and bobs of yarn.

  12. I took a class to make socks last year and I love knitting socks. Sock knitting is so portable. There is something special about wearing hand knit socks.

  22. I’m a sock nut!! I love to wear hand-knit socks as much as I love to knit them!! Socks are less of a commitment than a sweater, give you more bang for your yarn buck, and you get to try out new stitches and designs on a smaller landscape. AND, did I mention all the luscious fingering weight yarns on the market AND all the to-dye-for (pardon the pun!) colors?? What’s not to love about knitting socks??!!

  23. The first time I saw all those tiny needles I was sure I would never be able to knit socks. What a feeling of accomplishment when I finally tried it and could actually make socks! I have been totally addicted ever since. I can try out new things on a small project for quick gratification.

  30. I have a whole drawer of hand knit socks. They are my favorite thing to knit because the yarn can do all the work or you can work techniques that you find intimidating, and if you mess up, no one will really care cuz it’s on your feet!

  34. I do enjoy sock knitting. They are easy to transport and relatively quick to knit. There’s also a pretty good chance of fitting correctly, although I have knit a few that were too small and too big.

  35. Socks are my go-to project for commuter knitting. As a mass transit rider from way back, there really is truth in the button “I knit so I do not kill people” and socks are the perfect antidote to the interesting people who ride the bus some days – and I end up with something really fun after a month of commuting!
