Behind the Scenes: Spring 2013 Photo Shoot

If changing leaves and a crisp autumn breeze don’t make you think spring, chances are you’ve never been a part of a Berroco photo shoot.  It may have been a bit cool for the girls modeling colorful beach knits, but we definitely got some great shots for the new booklets.  Before I tell you anymore about our week on Cape Cod, let me introduce myself.

Hello to all you faithful Berroco Blog followers, my name is Ashley Palumbo and I’m the newest member of the Berroco Design Team.  I’m actually responsible for all things social media, but I’m more than happy to be associated with Norah and Amanda’s fabulous designs!  I’m really looking forward to connecting with all the Berroco fans out there.   Feel free to send me an email: apalumbo@berroco.com and stay tuned for the launch of our Facebook and Pinterest pages.

Back to the photo shoot…in four days we shot more than 60 pieces for 7 different books.  Obviously, I can’t show you any of the new designs, but I can tell you, you won’t be able to knit just one.  So get your needles ready!

As a first timer, it was so much fun to see what goes on behind the scenes.  Mary Jane Mucklestone came up with the coolest outfits and I was awed at how fast Jennie Kay Plumb could change the models’ hair from a casual ponytail to a flawless braided bun.   Of course, Chris Vaccaro had one of the hardest jobs – choosing the perfect location and making sure he got “the shot” for each item.

One of my favorite locations from the shoot was the Parnassus Book Service in Yarmouthport.   The shop has been around since 1957, but what really makes it unique is the shelves of books located just outside the building.  I had to ask the clerk, Paul Noonan, what that was all about.

Let me know if you have any stories you think I should share in future blog posts.  You can email me or leave a comment with your suggestions.

  1. The photo shoot looks super fun. Great thing to see.

One thing I’d love to see here on the blog are inspiration posts. Malabrigo does a weekly color feature where they show a photo that inspires them and then the yarns that would go with that photo … not that here per se but just something that shows a visual inspiration for a piece or a designer, etc. Just my two cents.

Looking forward to the new FB and Pinterest pages!

    1. Thanks for the suggestion! I think that’s a great idea. I’ll be sure to post once our new social media pages are up.

  2. The Parnassus Book Service is one of my favorite places ever. I visit it at least once every summer. Can’t wait to see the photos!

    1. It is definitely a cool place to visit and a great place for a photo shoot! We were so excited that they let us use the store.
