With spring fast approaching I’ve found myself gravitating more towards my hooks than my needles! Something about the warm weather makes me welcome crochet more than usual, maybe it’s the groovy natural vibe of it, or the lovely openness of a nice double crochet- either way here are some of my favorite (and free!) crochet designs from the Berroco pattern archive that are perfect for this spring
1. Squill
Squill is a beautiful open-lacework shawl inspired by florals. The open nature of the stitch makes it a perfect wrap for those warm nights when you just need a little something for your shoulders, but don’t want to carry around a jacket. This design would be so great in any of our colorways of a classic hand-dyed yarn: Fika!
2. Ariana
Ariana is a super cute and very on-trend cardigan made with the oh-so-popular granny square using one of my favorite Berroco yarns: Lanas! However if you’re not feeling 100% wool this spring, this sweater would also look great just doing single color granny squares in Berroco Summer Sesame. The granny clusters allow for a slight breeze that the wearer can enjoy while keeping you the perfect temperature for a spring night out. Not to mention that the modular nature of this design makes for a great project to take with you to a picnic!
3. Tisbury
If you’re anything like me, you take the art of “spring cleaning” very seriously, including a bit of redecorating. This crochet mat is an elegant spin on the classic rope rug, made with Berroco Pima 100 yarn. It gives such sweet boho vibes perfect for welcoming spring into your home!
4.Terrarium
With the weather warming up- don’t forget to hydrate! Terrarium is the sweetest water bottle cozy. Add a little shoulder strap to make the perfect water bottle holder! I’ll be making mine in the colorful Berroco Sox yarn.
5. Billerica
Spring wouldn’t be complete without a little sleeveless number! Billerica is a tank that is worked in pieces and seamed, starting with the lace motifs. This tank will be perfect with jeans for a nice spring walk, or dress it up with a flowing maxi skirt for an evening glass of wine with a friend. While the yarn that was originally used for the design has been discontinued, Berroco’s new yarn Lumi would be a perfect substitute- and add a little shine to the design.
I hope you enjoy these patterns and come along with me in my spring crochet journey to decorate both myself and my home! I can’t wait to see your take on these incredible patterns from Berroco!
