CLOSED: Weekend Wraps Giveaway

Congratulations to our winner Alicia! Thank you to everyone for entering to win—be sure to visit the Berroco Blog frequently, as we’ll have more giveaways in the future! Tomorrow is the day! The official launch of  the new book Weekend Wraps by designers Cecily Glowik MacDonald and Melissa LaBarre—we love Cecily and Melissa’s work. They were both featured in Portfolio Volume 2 and their other titles, New England Knits and Weekend Hats, have prominent placement here in the Berroco design office’s reference library.

A few weeks ago I shared my contribution, the North Star Cardigan from Weekend Wraps. Knit in the incredibly cozy Berroco North Star, the body of this cardigan is a rectangle worked from right front to left front without shaping. A second rectangle is then picked up along one side and worked perpendicular to the first—this creates both the lower body and a sleeve opening. The sleeves are worked down in the round. No seams to sew! I love this easy sort-of-a-shawl-sort-of-a-cardigan shape and I especially love it in this soft squishy yarn, and I think you will too! I’m excited to announce we have a copy of Weekend Wraps to giveaway and the yarn to knit your own

HOW TO ENTER: Leave a comment below telling us your favorite shade of North Star yarn.

DETAILS: Must be 18 years or older to enter.

Comments must be posted by 11:59 PM EST on Monday, August 8, 2016. One winner will be chosen at random and announced on the blog next Tuesday, August 9.

  1. I’m loving the new color Walrus. It’s a great deep shade of blue. North Star looks so cozy and squishy, I will have to pick some up!

  2. humpback whale for sure!!!!!!!!! totally great with anything but it has a bluish undertone that makes it just a TOUGH differentfrom aplain oldblack!

  3. How fun! I LOVE knitting shawls and wraps for the women in my life. My wonderful grandmother looks amazing in teal and she has been on my mind a lot lately. North Star Narwhal would look absolutely wonderful against her beautiful skin. I love the shade in general, but I think that yarn is especially lovely!

  4. I would love to knit this in Snowy Owl. I think that is also the color featured with this post, us it not? What a great pattern! Thanks for the opportunity!

  5. I love Harbor Seal. It has just enough dark in it with out being black or brown. The yarn looks so cozy and I am ready for fall!

  6. I really love the Caribou. Its warm and cozy looking, but white enough to look crisp and give a pop of brightness against, probably dark, clothes.

  7. What a lovely palette of colors. I am going to pick Puffin as my favorite. Although it would not be a usual choice, I am expecting a baby girl in November, so I have pink on the brain, and this one is lovely

  8. Orca for me – it looks like a rainy day in the mountains, I could use it today!

  9. Love the names of the different colors! If I were knitting this pattern, I would choose Harbour Seal. That said, my favorite color is Grizzly.

  10. I love Grizzly! I think it would such a comforting color knit in North Star. I love the pattern and yarn combo for this giveaway!

  11. I love to knit with all variations of gray. Especially gradients or several different colorways.

  12. My favorite is probably Narwhal, but this wrap I’d probably knit in Snowy Owl for maximum wearability.

  13. It is very hard to pick just on color. I love them all.i would like to knit narwhal first

  14. North Star is fantastic to work with. I’m presently knitting Cocoon using Snowy Owl and it is beautiful.

  15. Very tough decision- but I think Orca would be beautiful knit up into a scarf or hat.

  16. I loved the original natural colors when North Star came out last year, but I really like the new Orca colorway!

  17. Generally I prefer dark colors, but this soft, squishy yarn reminds me of newly fallen snow, so I think I’d pick Tundra for this piece.

  18. I love the Orca colour. Blue is my favourite colour. Could just see a cardigan or a cozy shawl knit in this!
The NorthSyar cardigan would awesome in this yarn and colour!

  19. Hi berrocco love your yarns!! Youve made it tough to pick one favorite but narwhal is my favorite North Star (with arctic tern a close 2nd!)

  20. I haven’t had the privilege of working with Northstar Yarn, so naming my favorite would be difficult. It looks so soft and cozy in the sweater that I’ll be adding it to my list of new yarns to try😀.

  21. A cozy soft sweater in caribou and another in Orca would be lovely. It’s too hard to pick, so something in both would be wonderful.

  22. They are all such lovely colors but I would go with Norwhal. It reminds me of colors in the Caribbean.

  23. I love Snowy Owl – it seems to really accentuate the softness of the yarn. I would like very much to knit a wrap with that yarn!

  24. Tundra would look very elegant. It was a hard choice, because all colors are wonderful.

  25. Thank you for the chance to win. I love the look of this cardigan, especially because at first, it looks like a shawl. The construction is intriguing and I would be ecstatic to try North Star yarn. The colors are all lovely but my favorite would have to be Harbour Seal. Thank you and happy knitting!

  26. So hard to choose! All the colors are gorgeous! But Snowy Owl and Narwal did catch my eye for sure!

  27. Narwhal is a beautiful color but I like the the Snowy Owl looks great with this pattern.
