The final post with the reveal of the layout for our Ultra Alpaca MKAL will be out this week. As thrilled as I am with how this piece turned out, I couldn’t resist the temptation to come up with some fun alternate options.
Option one uses the pattern as written – 5 squares each of the 5 squares.
Option 2 uses three of the four squares, but more of some and fewer of others. Here I was riffing on our original inspiration of the quilts of Gees Bend.
I love the idea of making a blanket of a single block. For option 3 I chose Ashley’s block and played with the orientation. I also experimented with the size- this example would require 12 squares but you could used any number.
And I couldn’t resist a sweet baby blanket for option 4 – this time using just 9 squares (5 of square 1, 3 of square 2).
Berroco Vintage and Comfort could easily be substituted for Ultra Alpaca, making it machine washable. The options are endless.
Don’t forget to post pictures of your finished squares in the Berroco Lover’s group and on Ravelry… we can’t wait to see what you come up with!
