Amy’s Thread: Storm Prep for Knitters

If you’re not in the Northeast, bear with me…you might have heard we’re preparing for an epic blizzard. First things first, check your head lamps for batteries! You don’t want to get caught in the dark with nothing to do. Next, check your stash. I don’t know what it is about big weather events, but they always make me want to start something new. This week I’m suggesting a few of my favorite quick(isn) knits from recent Knitbits issues to get us through the storm.

Hats make great storm knitting – cast on now and you’ll have a new hat by the time you have to start shoveling.

If you’ve been meaning to join our Aidez KAL it’s not too late…

But if you’re looking for something even simpler, Danty Duff is a quick knit and exactly the sweater I’d like to be wearing right now.

If you’re thinking something more delicate, check out Squelette. This beautiful wrap works up quickly on US size 8 needles at a gauge of 18 stitches over 4 inches.squelette_lg

If you’re in the Northeast stay warm, stay safe, hunker down and cast on!

  1. I think our minds tend to think about knitting because we anticipate long blocks of time to crank out our projects. It would be awful to be without knitting in that situation!!
