Our five days of photography starts today! Last week I steamed a lot of garments and I’ve gotten to know all 90 something of them inside and out. Of course, I was already pretty familiar with the ones I designed, after making up new cable patterns writing instructions for my knitters. Still, there were a few surprises.
For instance, I was taken by the wrong side of this cable pattern AND the bigger surprise for me was that I planned the piece as a poncho and it turns out it really wants to be a skirt. Amanda, Martha and I all watched in astonishment as the “poncho” slid down of the shoulders of our dress form and settled neatly on her hips. I wish I had caught it on video. Maybe we can recreate it.
Here are a few more teaser shots of the textures from my next book:
Should I name this next booklet Norah Gaughan vol 13, as expected? It is 2013 after all. Or, maybe I should skip over the 13, like they do with tall buildings and name it Norah Gaughan: Top Down. Yes, that’s right – Top Down. I swore I never would…but more about that later.
Maybe you have a clever idea for the booklet title. Let me know!
I do love the numbers all in a row on my bookshelf — but what’s to stop you from using “Norah Gaughan Vol.13: Top Down”, everyone satisfied!
For anyone concerned about that pesky number (not me!) you could call it Norah Between 12 and 14.
Taking It From the Top
Stunning! As always! Can’t wait to see the rest.
“Norah Upside Down” applies to both wrong side and top down.
Stunning is what I meant!
Donna
Yay! Top down, really? Can’t wait.
A rose by any other name…. Would smell as sweet…. Name it what you wish, we’ll still love it!
No clever ideas – just can’t wait to see them all!
Gravity!
Whatever its called we’ll buy it! my suggestion: Nora Gaughan, Vol., 13, Taking it From The Top and Down.
Thanks for the support and the suggestion!
I’m excited! I love topdown.
