Did you know that nearly half of our current yarns come from Italy? That’s one of the reasons why our semi-annual trips to Pitti Filati are so important!
Pitti Filati is basically the main event in the yarn industry. It’s three days of yarn, yarn and more yarn, mixed with elaborate displays and even some food! Carnival-like atmosphere aside, Pitti Filati is all business for Berroco and the thousands of other international yarn buyers who attend.

This past January, Warren and Caroline traveled to Italy for Pitti Filati 72, where they looked at yarns for the Spring/Summer 2014 season. Typically, they’ll return with 40-50 yarns picked out to sample. A lot of times, these samples will be altered in color, weight or fiber to make them even more appealing. When they arrive, Norah and Amanda will knit swatches with each and in a few months, they’ll meet with Warren and Caroline to decide on 3 or 4 yarns to buy for next year. In other words, it’s a very selective process that ensures that the Berroco yarns you buy at your LYS are the best of the best!

Loved the necklace in this video, do you have a pattern for it?
Jeanne, unfortunately these images are all from an industry trade show in Italy put on by yarn manufacturers, so none of the items were actually made by Berroco.
