Cowls are everywhere! They’re quick to make, fun to wear, and they make great gifts. Since many of them only require a few skeins, they’re a practical way to try out a new yarn without a big commitment. In addition to the cowl patterns produced by our design team (watch for this upcoming Friday’s KnitBits newsletter for four new designs), I’ve pulled together some fun independently designed cowls from Ravelry. It’s always interesting to see what other designers are doing with Berroco yarns…
First up, we have Lynette Meek’s Columns and Buttons Cowl. Worked in Borealis, this cowl is the perfect display for some special buttons, and it really shows off the yarn’s gorgeous colors.
For a long and graceful cowl shape, look no further than Sue Conway’s Flicker Lighter Than Air Cowl. Worked in warm but lightweight Flicker, this cowl will really live up to its name, and the lace stitch patterning adds just the right amount of interest.
For crocheters, Sarah Grieve’s Potentilla Cowl is an ideal beginning project. Worked in either Ultra Alpaca or Vintage, this seamless cowl has beautiful texture and drape and works up very quickly!
The Quick & Cozy Cowl by Eileen Vito is another great option for Borealis. The textured stitch pattern works beautifully with the shifting colors, and the buttons make it easy to put on or take off.
Emily Elizabeth’s Aurelia cowl features Ultra Alpaca in a cozy reversible textured stitch. A wide garter stitch buttonband will show off cool buttons and Ultra Alpaca’s incredible color range means you’ll find a color to match every coat in your closet.
With so many fun options available, the only hard part about making a cowl with one of Berroco’s yarns is choosing which pattern to use! I guess the only solution is to make more than one…

I like them all.
Thank-you Amanda for including the Columns and Buttons Cowl!
Boreals is a great yarn to work with and has such a rich look!

I love cowls too, good post!
I quite enjoy working with Berroco yarns and can’t make enough cowls. The POTENTILLA COWL by Sarah Grieve is my favourite but must admit the others are gorgeous too. Thanks for posting these. It’s time for me to visit my LYC for more wonderful Berroco.
