Take a Little Trip to Italy

Many of your favorite Berroco yarns come from Italian yarn mills—ciao, bella! Twice a year, our president and vice-president go to a show called Pitti Filati where they can see samples of new products from these mills and get some ideas for what to bring back to the design team. Once the yarns are in the Berroco office, the design team spends a good amount of time working with each of the yarns to try to bring you new and exciting yarns—right now we’re working on Fall 2019!!

Warren, our president, always takes loads of photos, so we thought we’d share some of them to give you a bit of an armchair tour of Florence, Italy, and the recent Pitti Filati show.

Early morning view of the Arno, most important river of central Italy after the Tiber. And undoubtedly, one of the most photographed.

Walking through the streets of Florence as well as overview from the hillsides. Florence is known as the “cradle of the Renaissance” (la culla del Rinascimento) for its monuments, churches, and buildings. The best-known site of Florence is the domed cathedral of the city, Santa Maria del Fiore, known as The Duomo, whose dome was built by Filippo Brunelleschi.
Pitti Immagine Filati: an international yarn show held twice yearly in Florence, at the Fortezza da Basso. Collections are being offered for Fall 2019. Booths are incredibly creative, one even decorated with thousands of gummy bears!

Meetings with Italian suppliers at the show and at their offices. Scouting for new and creative yarns for Fall ‘19.

Fresh and delicious food awaits after show hours.

Are you traveling this summer? Where are you going and what projects are you taking with you?
