I set a goal for myself that this year I would participate in the Made by Me Challenge for 31 days. I would wear at least one article of clothing I made myself everyday of the month of May—so far, so good! Yesterday was cool and in the 60s; perfect for Japonica, an easy kimono style cardigan knit in Berroco Artisan.
In the simplest terms, the Made by Me May challenge is about wearing the things that you make. You can read about the origin of the Made by Me May sewing challenge here. What started as a sewing community endeavor has spread to makers of all crafts, including knitters. (I sewed the skirt that I’m wearing in these photos.) What I appreciate about the original thinking on this challenge is that it is about setting a personal goal, my objectives don’t have to be your objectives. Participation is completely a personal thing and so can be private or you can join in the community on social media with hashtags such as #mmmay16, #mmm16.
Are you participating in Made by Me May or have you in the past? If you’ve got a me-made post with a Berroco yarn please be sure to tag us so we can see—we love to see what you’re making and you can see what we are up to on the @berrocodesign Instagram account.
is there a pattern for this shawl?
Hi Kelley! The knitted project in this blog is Japonica, a shawl-cardigan hybrid. There are links the post that take you to the pattern page where you can find additional information. Hope this helps!
