Kirsten Kapur’s Astor Place Mitts Giveaway

The Astor Place Mitts pattern was just released by Kirsten Kapur as part of the Through The Loops 10th Anniversary Collection. The mitts were designed to make the most of the deliciously slubby, tweedy texture of Berroco Artisan, a worsted weight wool/silk blend workhorse yarn. From Kirsten: “I adored Artisan from the moment you put a skein of it in my hands…It worked up beautifully, and the tweedy texture gives the design a lot of extra surface interest.”

The pattern is available in three sizes with finished measurements: 6 (6.75, 7.5)” (relaxed circumference) and  7 (8, 9)” long, meant to be worn with 1–3″ of negative ease. Shown in size S. One pair of mitts takes 123–200 yards (112–183 m) of Berroco Artisan.

The Astor Place Mitts are one of 10 patterns available in the  Through the Loops 10 Years collection. The pattern will not be available separately until the end of the year. But Berroco has a special exclusive—one lucky reader of the blog will win two skeins of Artisan (enough to make the mitts in any size) and a PDF of the Astor Place Mitts pattern from Kirsten.

  1. Pick just one?!? In no particular order, I like Celtic Sea, Deep Pacific, and Norwegian Sea. They are all rich, luscious colors. Lovely pattern and lovely colors. I have never used this yarn and would love to!

  2. I love all the colours, it’s hard to pick just one. Scotia Sea is very sophisticated. Beautiful mitts, too! Thank you Berroco and Kristen!

  3. I would choose Pacific Ocean. I use fingerless mitts often and would be happy to have a couple skeins of lovely yarn to knit them up

  4. I love Atlantic Coast – it’s such a beautiful soft gold/cream! But really, they’re all gorgeous.

  5. All the Artisan yarns are beautiful, but my favorite is definitely Maritime. I love jewel tones. Thanks for the chance to win!

  6. Ocean Floor. reminds me of sunflowers and bees and summer. After the long winter, this color is yummy!

  7. What a marriage of yarn and pattern. gulf of Maine would be perfect! Everything Kristin Kapur does is beautiful, thank you for the chance!

  8. I love neutral colours, so simple and natural. Atlantic coast 6003 of the berrocco Artisan would definitely be my pick for those mitts. I love the quality of berrocco yarn, and make many trips to my favourite little yarn shop to buy it 🙂

  9. It’s very hard to choose just one from Deep Pacific, Maritime, or Norwegian Sea. They are all so beautiful!

  10. Like many before I like several different colors, but Atlantic Coast and Gulf of Maine call to me more.

  11. Ocean Floor! I recently moved to the North Oregon coast and Ocean Floor is also the color of the winter beach grass that lines the path to the beach…love

  12. oh what lovely blue mitts! I would choose the same blue that Kristen used, Deep Pacific, though in Berroco’s site it looks more gray. Blue please!

  13. It is a tough call, but I am going to have to go with Atlantic Coast, followed closely by Deep Pacific. But, actually there isn’t a bad color in the bunch.

  14. I’ve been so into blues lately, and Norwegian Sea is the perfect one! All the colorways are so beautiful.

  15. I love the “old gold” colors in Ocean Floor. Thanks for offering the giveaway and love reading the blog!

  16. I so love through the loops site. My color would be Gulf of Maine.( hard to choose as many call my name).

  17. I love Celtic Sea. Two years ago I led a women’s celtic pilgrimage, walking in the steps of St Cuthbert from Melrose in Scotland to Holy Island (Lindisfarne) in northern England. I commissioned a yarn colorway from Eden Cottage to mark the hike, but neglected the wonderful colors of the sea which we saw as we came over the hills after 60 miles of walking.

  18. Sargasso .. such a beautiful colour, shades of blackberry and cream ..yum yum yum. I would love the chance to knit with it, as we don’t have Berroco yarn in the world where I live.

  19. Such a tough choice as the colors are truly lovely. But my favorite is Maritime. And Celtic Sea is my second.

  20. I would happily knit any of the colors. I love the color variations you find in tweedy yarn. My favorite, by a slim margin, is Celtic Sea closely followed by Norwegian Sea. I love green, I love blue, and I especially love bluey-greens!

  21. Sargasso gets my vote – – many are beautiful but if I HAVE to choose one – – Sargasso!!

  22. So many gorgeous shades, but I think Celtic Sea would have to be my favourite. Thanks for the chance of winning 🙂

  23. I like so many of the colors. There is a depth to the color that speaks to me. Gulf of Maine is one of my favorites. One… 🙂

  24. So many choices! If I had to pick one, I would pick Celtic Sea, though Norwegian Sea and Maritime are right up there as well.

  25. Sargasso. Sargasso….it must be Sargasso. This is the exact color of my Hydrangea bush as some of the flowers are just blooming and a few are starting to fade. My absolute favorite shade of dusty purple. I would love to see the mitts in Sargasso! Thank you 🙂

    1. Hi Sherry! You’ve won the giveaway—please email me at apalmer at berroco.com so we can get your yarn and pattern to you!

      1. I am thrilled! Thank you so much. What a fantastic message to receive on Monday! 🙂

  26. The colors are all lovely, but I keep coming back to Gulf of Maine—a very intriguing neutral.

  27. I love the Sargasso and the Gulf of Maine. I think those colors would go together wonderfully.

  28. This is one of those times it’s easier to choose a least favorite – they are all so gorgeous. Sargasso is what I’d like to knit with next.

  29. OHHH – I think that its a tie between Maritime and Norwegian Sea. Either one of those would make killer mitts. Thanks for this great opportunity.

  30. I’d love to make these in the Maritime colorway! I made a hat with this yarn and the gradient was beautiful.

  31. I can’t pick a color because your link isn’t working for me & I can’t get the yarn to pull up on your site! It’s beautiful, though, & Kirsten’s patterns are always a pleasure to knit!

  32. I love the both Norwegian Sea colorway for the mitts. However, so many of the colors are beautiful.
