Berroco’s new collaborative collection Portfolio is finally out and I am so excited to share it with all of you!!
Berroco Portfolio is a collaboration between the Berroco Design Team and some of our favorite independent designers. To celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Berroco’s Ultra Alpaca yarn line. A project like this has been a dream of mine since-so-long-I-can’t-remember. To start we invited designers to create work using their choice of the 4 weights. I put together a mood board with the themes for the book, sent the designs a skein of each weight to swatch with and waited anxiously to see what would come back. The theme for this book was “Repetition and variation, how traditional patterns evolve”.
To photograph this collection, we went to the historic Slater Mill museum in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Founded in 1793, the Slater Mill was the first successful cotton-spinning mill in the United States. Since the 1950s, it has served as a museum dedicated to the American Industrial Revolution. It was the perfect setting for this first volume of designs because the collection grew from themes of traditional patterns. In the coming weeks and months I will talk a lot more about this project and about the designers, but for now I’m just madly in love with the collection as a whole.
No wonder you’re in love with the collection…..it’s wonderful! Congratulations to all.
