DIY Hair with Jennie Kay Beauty: Side Braid from Booklet #336

It’s one of those things that makes our booklets look so nice, yet it has nothing to do with yarn. I’m talking, of course,  about the fabulous hairstyles created by our go-to hair and makeup artist, Jennie Kay Plumb.

I’m always in awe of how fast and flawlessly she can whip up a new ‘do during our photo shoots, all the while, keeping up a conversation (which typically involves what we’re ordering for lunch that day). Try as I might, I haven’t picked up much from watching her on the set. She’s just too quick! Lucky for me (and all of my fellow hair-challenged knitters and crocheters), Jennie offered to break it down step-by-step. We chose the side braid, which is featured with two variations in booklet #336 His & Hers Classics.

Next time you’re wearing a new sweater or simply posing for a Ravelry picture, you won’t have to worry about bad hair! Watch the video below to see how it’s done. (Special thanks to our model, Steph!)
