Carousel ❤️s Aerial

Our new sport weight wool blend Carousel, with its multi-color plies, pairs so beautifully with lace weight silk/mohair Aerial that we have used them together in about half the new Carousel designs! One of my favorites is Avalon, a super wearable moss stitch raglan pullover, shown above.

I wanted to demonstrate how the choice of Aerial color to pair with the Carousel can really make a HUGE difference in the overall color effect, so with some help from my team, I have a few pairings to share with you.

First up – we have the original color of Carousel, 4441 Duck Pond, shown on the right with the original Aerial color, 3459 Merlot. Matched with 3490 Eggplant on the left, it looks completely different. You’d never dream those two swatches have the same Carousel colorway, but I promise it’s true. (Yes, I triple checked!)

Note: I didn’t have my original Avalon swatch because it became part of the Swatchigan! So I photoshopped a digital swatch from the sweater photo into the photo above.

For a warmer red-based shade, you could pick Carousel 4432 Skee Ball and drag along Aerial 3466 Ruby (left). Or, go even warmer with Aerial 3433 Copper (right).

Our last pair of swatches both feel like spring in different ways: Carousel 4428 with Aerial 3473 Petal (left) and with Aerial 3497 Sage (right). I love how the light pink shade makes the halo effect of the mohair look more pronounced.

I could have spent all day putting together combinations of these two yarns! To see a few more, check out some of our other Carousel + Aerial designs:

What colors of Carousel and Aerial would you like to see paired up?

  1. Hi! Happy 2024!
I’m considering making the Twyla cardigan and have only one question: is about pattern details, written in US terms or British terms ?
