Amy’s Thread: Spring Knitting

A few weeks ago I wrote  a post about finding seasonal yarn substitutions  for our new yarn Mykonos. In that post I proposed substituting Cosma for Mykonos, this week I thought I’d look in the other direction. I have rounded up a few pattern suggestions for substituting some of our Spring yarns for some classic Berroco patterns.

Rosabella is a recent Knitbits pattern designed by Emily Nora O’Neil. Originally knit in Cosma, this pullover would be a natural choice for our new yarn Corsica. For more great ideas for Mykonos or Corsica try searching for Folio patterns on our website.

Katahdin from the Colora booklet #364 is a perfect pattern for Elba. Elba is a 100% cotton tape, essentially a knitted tube, so you get the cool crisp comfort of cotton in a yarn that is as gentle as a woolen-spun on the hands. Another added bonus of yarns with this construction is that they wear incredibly well. With a similar color effect, Elba is a natural alternative yarn for Colora.

Daqin was originally knit in Cosma for booklet #348.  This t-shirt is knit side to side with a lace inset shoulder detail. I would size up for additional ease and let the Mykonos drape really shine.  Also, take a look at patterns for Seduce—a discontinued yarn with a great catalog of patterns that would work perfectly with Mykonos.
