With a new season coming out soon, I’ve been brushing up on some of our commonly used techniques. Make 1 left (M1L) and Make 1 right (M1R) are my go-to increases when I am designing. Almost invisible, the increase is created by picking up the strand of yarn that runs between the stitch you just knit and the next stitch on your left hand needle and knitting to twist the new stitch. Because these increases can slant both to the left and right they create a beautifully tailored finish to a knitted piece.
Follow along as I demonstrate M1L.

Happy Making,
