It’s been a beautiful summer in New England, especially for Barrison. Still, she couldn’t resist an opportunity to get on the road again.
Earlier this month, Barrison joined Emily and Emily’s boyfriend, Jared, on a road trip to Saugatuck, Michigan where they were visiting a friend. Along the way, they say songs, did a little sightseeing and a lot of knitting (at least Emily & Barrison did)! Barrison also put the finishing touches on her first-ever crochet design – a floral poncho that she’d been planning for several months.

Barrison spotted some purple wildflowers during a walk last spring and she immediately knew she wanted to use them in a future design. She also knew she would have to learn how to crochet to get the look she wanted. After watching our crochet how-to videos (a few times) and practicing the basics, she came up with a simple flower motif using chains, single crochets and slip stitches. It only took two days to turn her flowers into a poncho!

Crocheted in Berroco Ultra Alpaca Fine, Hepatica is lightweight but still warm enough for a night on Lake Michigan or a misty day at Niagara Falls. It was the perfect accessory for Barrison’s trip.
