After 21 years working for an international architectural firm, Donna Palicka left the corporate world and opened her own yarn shop – the Sister-Arts Studio in Chicago. Her goal then, and still today, was to teach the fiber arts to all ages, or as she puts it, “teach love.”
Donna has found a new use for her design background in creating knitwear patterns. Ona’s Slouchy Tee is a loosely fitted tee that can be worn inside-out or upside-down. It’s a cute and casual look featuring six colorful stripes of Berroco Karma with lace detail. It’ll knit up quickly on size 11 needles!

How did you come up with this design?
I designed this pattern as an in-store giveaway for the Chicago Yarn Crawl. I had so many people buy the yarn for this pattern that I sold out of six colors in the first four days!
Who did you design it for?
I’ve come to a point in my life where my 17-year-old daughter, Ona, and I share some of the same tops. Ona prefers to wear size large, although she is clearly a small, and I am a generous medium. Ona’s Slouchy Tee was designed to be comfortable, versatile and a fun layered piece! It can be worn multiple ways by different body types.
How long have you been knitting/crocheting?
I started knitting & crocheting after 9/11 and immediately taught my daughter who was 7 at the time. I became fascinated by how easily children learn and continued teaching knitting to kids age 7 and up.
