Now that the really cold weather has arrived, I’m remembering how much I like cowls– and I’m so happy that these wonderful rings of knitted or crocheted warmth have become a long-term trend in winter knit accessories. A few weeks back, I pointed out a few cowls that were great knitting projects for beginners. Cowl knitting is also a great way to practice a new technique before you launch into a larger project, like a sweater or afghan. I’ve pulled together a gallery of cowls knit (and crocheted) in a variety of techniques. You can brush up on cable charts, knit your first fair Isle, practice brioche rib or learn a new texture stitch. Click on the pattern name in the list below the gallery for more information on each pattern.
