Welcome Cirilia!

Yippee, yahoo… the search for an assistant designer is over! I am so very pleased to announce that Cirilia Rose is now working with us in the Berroco design studio. Cirilia jumped right in, multitasking from the start. During her first two days we have had her editing Knitbits, planning future issues, fully participating in design meetings, swatching, and, even though it wasn’t part of the work agreement, we persuaded her to model for a few minutes too. :)

As many of you know already from, the book and from the audio slide show, the NGV3 cover cardigan, Violette-le-duc, was photographed “upside down”. I think it looks truly lovely this way. The flip was due to a flash of brilliance on Margery’s part while acting as stylist for the book –  picking all of the clothing and accessories and making it all work on the models. Now, of course, folks would like to see what the cardigan looks like “right side up”.

To the right is Cirilia, styled by Margery, shown in the “right side up” Violette-le-duc. Thank you, Cirilia – and welcome!

P.S. Cirilia will be co-hosting this blog with me.  Look for an entry soon.

I agree with Melissa. Superheroes, yes!

Thanks for posting the second view of the cardigan. I like both versions, but I REALLY like that Margery took the risk and turned the work upside down for the photoshoot. Now that’s Wonder Woman thinking.

  12. Hi Nora,
I really enjoyed the Art House Audio tour this morning. I am hoping that you post more about your process for Portrait. I’d love to see the evolution of the chart from initial image to final (tweaked) form.

Yes, our loss is Berroco’s gain! We are so sad to lose Cirilia, but so thrilled about her great new opportunity! As for Violetta – I’m a right-side up kinda gal, but I’m sure that doesn’t surprise anyone :)

Beautiful sweater — either side up. Does the sweater work without the closure? Thanks.

  21. Congratulations on finding a new team member. Your post prompts a question I’ve been wondering about — who styles your photography for pattern booklets, etc? Is it Margery? I was looking through the Woodland Gothic/Art House collections and I was taken by the knits, of course, but thought the styling was brilliant. Those gorgeous skirts! Anyway, beautiful styling that highlighted the pieces. Job well done.

I have just begun working with Inca Gold. What wonderful yarn! I am making Violette-le-duc for my daughter who is six feet tall. Has anyone made this sweater yet? If so, is there a place where I might lengthen it more easily than another? Also, does anyone have a picture of the back of the sweater?
    Thanks. Linda
